Following the Las Vegas Raiders’ latest heartbreaking loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, a frustrated Davante Adams was seen shoving a photographer as he left the field. While angry at the outcome of the game, Adams’ actions were simply unacceptable.
Adams knew this immediately for his part and would apologize for both at his locker after the game and again on social media. But the photographer would immediately go to Kansas City police at the stadium and file a police report.
Now, after their investigation, it was announced that Adams would be charged with misdemeanor assault in the Municipal Court of Kansas City, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter:

The citation itself lists an “intentional, overt act” that inflicted “bodily injury” as a reason for the misdemeanor assault charge. It also notes that the photographer, identified as Ryan Zebley, sustained injuries, including a possible minor concussion, whiplash, and a headache.
Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels has already spoken on the incident, saying the franchise will comply with anything the league asks as they continue investigating it. McDaniels also expressed support for his receiver via Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal:
“He’s a great guy. I know that was an unfortunate situation. We obviously don’t want any of our guys to be doing anything like that. He knows that. He’s very well-aware of that. But I know the person and I don’t think there was any intent behind it on his part.”
Throughout his NFL career, Adams has never had any issues, be it on or off the field. The two-time All-Pro has long been one of the most upstanding and well-respected players in the league, and this incident was entirely out of line from his usual character.
But unfortunately, it did happen, and now Adams will have to deal with the consequences of his actions. He and the Raiders will surely do everything possible to handle this as quickly and efficiently as possible.
