After a 3-14 season that saw the Las Vegas Raiders wind up with the worst record in all of football, there is no sugarcoating the fact that the team is in need of a full rebuild. And one person playing a major role in that process is minority owner Tom Brady.
Brady is accustomed to winning at the highest level and he plans on returning the Raiders to the top of the NFL as one of the league’s premier franchises. But Brady understands there is a lot of work to be done and opened up about what it will take for the Raiders to reach that goal, via FightHype:
“We certainly have a long way to go. What I’ve learned about football in 23 seasons is that it takes a tremendous amount of resilience, adversity, discipline, determination, and communication from an entire organization to really see the value in committing to one another. So it’s always process over outcomes. We’re all trying, all of us in our own roles, whether it’s ownership, the personnel department, strength and conditioning, athletic training, or obviously players across offense and defense. Everyone’s got to come together, and everyone has to work incredibly hard for the people next to them.”
The Raiders have already done a lot in free agency to help turn things around with a number of additions on both offense and defense. The team signed Tyler Linderbaum to anchor the offensive line and receiver Jalen Nailor to bring in another playmaker. They also added the likes of Quay Walker, Nakobe Dean and Kwity Paye to help shore up a defense that was one of the worst in the league.
Of course, the biggest need for the Raiders has long been at quarterback and the team is expected to address that in the NFL Draft as they have the first overall pick and will almost definitely select Heisman Trophy winning Fernando Mendoza out of Indiana.
Brady is right in that it will be a long process, but as he noted, it takes the entire organization from top to bottom being locked in on one accord and that seems to be the case for this Raiders franchise.
Raiders star Maxx Crosby opens up about rescinded Ravens trade
It was expected that the Raiders trade of star defensive end Maxx Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens would help accelerate that rebuild with an extra pair of first-round picks, but the Ravens of course would back out of the deal. Now Crosby is back with the Raiders and he has opened up about the rescinded trade for the first time.
