New general manager Dave Zeigler and head coach Josh McDaniels will spend the offseason evaluating the current Las Vegas Raiders and tweaking the roster to fit their vision ahead of the 2022 season.

Despite several difficult circumstances, the Raiders did well for themselves the previous season, making it to the Wild Card round, where they lost to the eventual AFC Champions, the Cincinnati Bengals. One big reason for their success was the play of Derek Carr, who showed the league that he belongs in the conversation for upper-tier quarterbacks, routinely making big-time throws and keeping Las Vegas competitive throughout the year.

So far, Carr and the front office seem interested in a long-term extension to keep him in Silver and Black, but until a new deal is signed, rumors about replacing him will always surface. Recently, PFF revealed betting odds for landing spots for Russell Wilson should the longtime Seattle Seahawk quarterback choose to look for a new home, and unsurprisingly Las Vegas received decent odds:

In recent years, Wilson has constantly been linked to the Raiders as reports have surfaced about rumored discontent with the Seahawks. Seattle missed the postseason last season, and after missing another chance at a Super Bowl, he may be looking for greener pastures.

However, with Zeigler and McDaniels’ New England Patriots backgrounds, they might feel hesitant about coughing up the assets necessary to make a blockbuster move for the signal-caller. As a result, the Raiders will seemingly always be linked to Wilson, but it may be in the team’s interest to work things out with Carr and improve the other facets of the roster. The situation is worth monitoring, but more than likely, the Raiders stand pat at quarterback.
