Even though three games remain in the season, much of the focus surrounding the Las Vegas Raiders is on the upcoming offseason and, particularly, the 2025 NFL Draft. The Raiders need a quarterback, and the top prize in the eyes of many is Colorado star QB Shedeur Sanders.
The son of Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, also his coach at Colorado, put forth an outstanding season throwing for 3,926 yards and 35 touchdowns with just eight interceptions. He has been linked with the Raiders throughout this season, and at 2-12, the Raiders could be in a position to take him as they are tied with the New York Giants for the NFL’s worst record.
It could come down to the Giants and Raiders, but if Sanders himself has a choice, it is believed that he would rather land in Las Vegas than New York, according to Jordan Raanan of ESPN:
Multiple sources close to Shedeur Sanders and the Colorado program believe his preference would be to land in Las Vegas. The Raiders and Giants are currently tied with the worst record in the NFL.
With so many different rumblings linking Sanders to the Raiders, this isn’t too much of a surprise. The question is whether his preference matters if the Giants do wind up with the top pick overall. The Giants are in dire need of a quarterback, just like the Raiders, and even though Sanders might prefer Las Vegas, that doesn’t necessarily mean he would hold out or try to force his way to his ideal destination.
Of course, if the Raiders don’t land the top pick, they could always try and trade up as well, though because the season is still ongoing, it is unclear what such a deal might cost. The Raiders have been very competitive, and with upcoming games against the struggling Jacksonville Jaguars and New Orleans Saints, it is feasible that they could find themselves further down in the top 10.
There seems to be very real mutual interest between the Raiders and Sanders, but there is still far too many moving parts to figure out if that will result in him winding up in silver and black.
General consensus around NFL is Raiders are targeting Shedeur Sanders
This is far from the first time that Colorado star QB Shedeur Sanders has been mentioned in the same breath as the Raiders, and it isn’t just a one-way street.
A recent report stated that the general consensus around the league is that the Raiders are targeting Sanders in the 2025 NFL Draft and will be doing whatever they can to make sure he winds up with the franchise.
