The Las Vegas Raiders have been linked with Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers for some time now as the team continues to weigh its options for their next quarterback. A deal for Rodgers would bring the Raiders a new face of the franchise and give a jolt to a team looking to make the leap into title contention.

There are a number of different ways the Raiders could go in their quarterback hunt, but it is hard to fathom a better option than Rodgers, widely considered one of the greatest to ever play the position. Even in his advanced age, Rodgers has still proven to be amongst the elite NFL quarterbacks and the Raiders still seem to be interested in acquiring him should he become available.

According to Dan Graziano of ESPN (subscription required), the Raiders remain a team to watch whenever the Aaron Rodgers sweepstakes get going:

The Las Vegas Raiders remain a team to watch in the Aaron Rodgers sweepstakes, whenever those kick off. Coach Josh McDaniels has long been an admirer of his, and Rodgers would be the best possible addition at quarterback if the Raiders and McDaniels are trying to win in the 2023 season.

However, if the Raiders are unable to acquire Rodgers, many expect the Raiders to go after free agent Jimmy Garoppolo:

If they can’t get him, a lot of people in Indianapolis this week expect McDaniels and GM Dave Ziegler to pursue free agent quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, whom they know from his time in New England early in his career. There’s also some chatter that McDaniels might try to acquire Mac Jones from the Patriots, though it seems unlikely New England would consider moving the 2021 first-rounder.

Garoppolo would be a solid backup option as someone who is familiar with Josh McDaniels’ system and has proven to be a winner when surrounded by the right pieces. But it is clear that Rodgers is the primary target and one who the franchise believes can take this team to the next level.

Both Davante Adams and Josh Jacobs have spoken positively about wanting Rodgers in silver and black and GM Dave Ziegler has even confirmed that Adams will be involved in the process of the team finding their next quarterback. The possibility of the Raiders going the draft route remains as well, but it is clear that until a move is officially made, the Raiders will continue to be linked to Rodgers.
