The 2023 season for the Las Vegas Raiders was one of many ups and downs. That usually leads to some frustration with some players, and that was undoubtedly the case for star wide receiver Davante Adams.

Adams is one of five players being covered in the new Netflix series ‘Receiver,’ which allows for an inside look at everything the receiver dealt with during the 2023 season. One big change was at quarterback, with the Raiders releasing Derek Carr, Adams’s college teammate and close friend.

In the series, Adams admitted that he likely never would have wanted to be traded to the Raiders if Carr wasn’t there, via Carter Landis of YourCentralValley.com:

“I can’t say that I would have made this change if it wasn’t for him being here and us lowkey plotting on this since we left school together,” Adams said during the episode about his trade from the Packers to the Raiders in 2022.

It is well known how close Carr and Adams are and it was surely difficult for Adams to see him be released. In his place, the Raiders signed Jimmy Garoppolo, but the veteran was unable to get a lot of reps in with Adams during OTAs and training camp as he was recovering from foot surgery, and at one point Adams highlighted how the two just weren’t on the same page:

“Work together,” Adams can be heard saying during a practice. “We gotta get on the same page. I don’t know if he saw the way I ran it, or if he saw — just being able to go back here versus getting here to do that.”

Making things worse for Adams was the injuries he was dealing with throughout 2023. The receiver injured his shoulder in an early-season game against the Chargers which continued to hamper him all season long, especially as he continually took big hits during the season. Eventually, his frustration boiled over against the Patriots:

Later, the game against the New England Patriots is shown, and Adams takes a big hit from safety Jabrill Peppers. On the sideline, Adams expresses his frustration with his injuries.

“I gotta get the f— out of here before I lose my f—ing life,” Adams said angrily. “I ain’t never been hit this many f—ing times in my career. Every game, I get f—ed up.”

It’s safe to say Adams won’t be looking back on the 2023 season too fondly. But with all that behind him now, the receiver still believes in the Raiders’ ability to change things around and is looking for a big year for himself and his team in 2024.

Aaron Rodgers adds fuel to the fire of a potential trade of Raiders’ Davante Adams

Even though Davante Adams hasn’t been one to hide his feelings or emotions, he has always maintained that he wants to be with the Raiders. But that hasn’t stopped rumors from circulating, especially when it comes to a potential reunion with Aaron Rodgers on the New York Jets.

Adams recently revealed that Rodgers has still been in his ear trying to recruit him to join the Jets via trade, and the star quarterback recently threw a little gas on that fire, by telling reporters that he can’t wait to play with the receiver again.
