It is the time of year when everyone anxiously awaits to see where they rank in the latest edition of EA Sports Madden NFL series. While the Las Vegas Raiders obviously have a couple of stars who will rank amongst the highest players at their position, it was unclear where new quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo would slot in.

After parting ways with Derek Carr this offseason, the Raiders signed Garoppolo to a three-year deal. With the weapons he has around him, the opportunity is there for Garoppolo to prove once again he can lead a successful team, but in the eyes of those in charge of Madden ratings, the Raiders may have made a slight downgrade.

Madden recently released the rankings of all the quarterbacks, and Garoppolo comes in with a rating of 77. That is tied with Russell Wilson for the 17th best at the position but just slightly below Carr who got a 78:

The rating for Garoppolo seems to be a pretty fair one. Throughout his career, he has proven to be a solid quarterback who can thrive when he has the right pieces around him but isn’t necessarily one who will raise those around him like the Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrows of the world. That being said, the Raiders don’t need him to be that guy as there is talent all across the offense.

Chief among them is wide receiver DaVante Adams whom Madden gave a 97 rating to and is the third-highest ranked player at his position. Running back Josh Jacobs is also the third-highest-ranked player at his position and has a rating of 95. Meanwhile, the defense is led by Maxx Crosby who has a 94 rating in the game.

Of course, for Garoppolo it is all about getting healthy and being ready to go once the season begins. The Raiders quarterback had to undergo foot surgery in the offseason which forced some changes to be made in his contract just in case he isn’t ready to go by Week 1.

While he wasn’t available for the Raiders’ offseason program, it still looks as if he is on track to be in uniform when the games begin. And most importantly for the Raiders, now is the time to build up that chemistry so the offense can be running on all cylinders. If that happens, Garoppolo will see that Madden rating begin to rise as well.
