The biggest question surrounding the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason is who will be under center next year, with a lot of rumblings around Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers right now. Getting that figured out will also play into one of the other biggest questions for the Raiders, the future of running back Josh Jacobs.

Coming into the 2022 season it was unclear whether Jacobs would even be on the roster as many thought he could be traded prior to the season. But Jacobs would go on to have a career year, leading the NFL in rushing and scrimmage yards, making his second Pro Bowl, and being named to the All-Pro First Team.

But now Jacobs is a free agent who could potentially be in another uniform next season. But in speaking with Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Jacobs admitted that bringing in Aaron Rodgers would certainly change things:

“Of course, it’s A-Rod. That’s Aaron Rodgers,” Jacobs said. “But yeah, he’s a dog. If he was to come over here, I feel like that would change the aspect of a lot of things.”

Even though Rodgers is a bit older now, he remains one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL today and is an all-time legend who could change the fortunes of this franchise. Rodgers donning the silver and black would truly give everyone on the roster confidence that they are contenders who could make a run at a Super Bowl.

Davante Adams has already made his feelings clear about the possibility of Rodgers joining the Raiders, and now Jacobs is right in line with it as well. The question for Jacobs and the Raiders will be their ability to come to terms on a new long-term contract.

Big-money contracts to running backs have been something many teams have shied away from recently due to the short shelf life at the position and most teams employing more of a committee look. But Jacobs was a clear bell-cow back this season and proved he can handle a high workload, if not more than what he was given. Additionally, he is still only 25 years old and seemingly has many good years ahead of him.

With both Adams and Jacobs on board, the Raiders may have to push all their chips in and get Rodgers in silver and black. The franchise has been looking to get over the hump into contention and this would be a move that could do just that.
