On Wednesday, Charles Woodson was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in a 27-17 victory over the San Diego Chargers.
With the Chargers looking to get within one score, Woodson recovered a fumble from Chargers’ Danny Woodson and ran for a 25 yard touchdown late in the third quarter. The Chargers had another chance late in the game, but Woodson’s interception sealed a big win against division rivals to improve to 2-3 on the season.
The fumble recovery was the 13th defensive touchdown of his career, which tied an NFL record shared with Darren Sharper and Rod Woodson. Woodson currently has 56 interceptions which ranks 17th in league history and after the victory on Sunday, he declared himself as one of the greatest to play the game.
Although he is 37-years-old, Charles Woodson continues to solidify himself as one of the best defensive players of all time and head coach Dennis Allen expects Woodson to continue to make these plays for the team.
