In what was the biggest game of their 2017 NFL season, the Oakland Raiders came up woefully short against the Kansas City Chiefs. Although the final score was 26-15, the Raiders never really kept the game competitive and were even held scoreless through the first three quarters.
Despite Kansas City not having Marcus Peters on the field, the Oakland offense was not able to get anything to go. Amari Cooper wound up leaving the game after reaggravating his ankle, while Derek Carr struggled to connect with his receivers downfield.
According to Paul Gutierrez of ESPN, Jack Del Rio was not pleased with his quarterback and offense’s performances:
Well, he is the trigger man of our offense,” Del Rio said. “The offense didn’t get done what we need to get done today.”
The offense has not looked anything close to the one during the 2016 NFL season as the team has struggled to generate many chunk yard or big plays. Carr has also struggled to regain his MVP-form as he has yet to find the same rhythm and connections with his receivers.
Carr already admitted the Raiders’ performance sucked, but the loss may have ended their playoff hopes. The silver and black will need several things to break their way if they want to make the postseason this year.
