The NFL world was dealt a devastating blow on Tuesday when news surfaced about the passing of a legend. At the age of 85, former then-Oakland Raiders head coach and legendary broadcaster John Madden has passed away, according to NFL PR.

Although Madden has kept out of the spotlight for the most part since walking from the broadcasting booth in 2009, the one-time Super Bowl champion has had a lasting impact on the game.
From his incredible coaching career with the Raiders to entertaining football fans on a weekly basis alongside Pat Summerall in the broadcast booth, Madden left his mark and many different areas of the game and will have his legacy live on for many years to come.
As if that wasn’t impressive enough, many younger generations that never heard him commentate a game or coach on the sidelines will remember him forever for being the face of one of the most iconic video game franchises in the history of gaming.
As for Raiders fans, the diehard fanbase of the Silver and Black will always have a special place in their heart for Madden. The larger-than-life figure roamed the sidelines for Al Davis’ franchise racking up an impressive regular-season record of 103-32-7, which remains the highest winning percentage (.759) in NFL history for coaches with more than 100 games under their belt.
Needless to say, Madden remains one of the most revered coaches in the history of the Raiders franchise and the NFL. His memory will live on in the hearts of many while also being recognized for his accomplishments as a coach of the Silver and Black.
