Josh-Freeman

There had been rumors flying everywhere about the Oakland Raiders being the front runner to bring in recently released veteran quarterback Josh Freeman to either backup or possibly take over as the starting quarterback over incumbent Terrelle Pryor.

Pryor fans no longer need to worry as Freeman has agreed to a one year deal with the Minnesota Vikings as first reported by Pro Football Talk via Twitter:

While Pryor has exceeded expectations so far this season, there are still questions about whether or not he can be a top notch quarterback as he progresses. Freeman has shown flashes of being an excellent quarterback, and offensive coordinator Greg Olson has even confessed to being a fan of the quarterback.

Joining the Minnesota Vikings is an excellent move for Freeman as Christian Ponder has done nothing to inspire the team under center, even with Adrian Peterson in the backfield.

This move should allow Pryor to play out the remainder of the season without fear of being replaced as Matt Flynn severely underwhelmed in his start last week against the Washington Redskins. With the number of quarterbacks likely to be available in this year’s draft, however, Pryor’s status after the year could be in question.
