All offseason long, the Las Vegas Raiders denied any rumors or speculation about the possibility of trading star wide receiver Davante Adams. Now, just four weeks into the season, things seem to have changed, as it has been reported that Adams has requested a trade from the franchise.

The Raiders acquired Adams two seasons ago. After an outstanding first year, his second season with the team was hampered by injury. He sat out the team’s Week 4 victory over the Cleveland Browns with an ankle injury. While there is still no guarantee that he will be dealt with, leaks on his preferred destination are already coming out.

The New York Jets and New Orleans Saints would be high on Adams’ wish list should he be traded, via ESPN:

Two NFL teams high on Davante Adams’ wish list of places to land if he’s traded — if not at the very top — are the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints, league sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Wednesday.

Adams, 31, ideally would like to play with a quarterback he knows, sources told Schefter. The Jets have Aaron Rodgers, Adams’ former teammate with the Green Bay Packers. The Saints have Derek Carr, Adams’ former teammate at Fresno State and with the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Jets’ inclusion on that list is no surprise, as they were the main team mentioned in offseason rumors about Adams due to his relationship with Rodgers. That same connection with the quarterback is likely the reason the Saints are high, as Carr was a big reason Adams wanted to join the Raiders in the first place.

While those two teams may be at the forefront, they aren’t the only teams with interest, though one team that can apparently be crossed off the list is the Kansas City Chiefs:

There also are other teams that remain interested in trading for Adams. Despite any speculation, the Kansas City Chiefs are not expected to be an option, sources told Schefter on Wednesday.

The Chiefs need a wide receiver, as they have already lost Hollywood Brown for the season, while top receiver Rashee Rice just suffered an injury that will at least keep him out for many weeks. But it is extremely difficult to imagine the Raiders trading Adams within the division.

Potentially dealing away Adams would mark a major shift in the Raiders’ schedule this season, and they will explore all options before making the decision they feel is best for the franchise.

Davante Adams Hasn’t Heard from Raiders Coach Antonio Pierce

Rumblings of a potential Davante Adams trade have been going on for some time, but they recently took a turn thanks to social media. Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce reportedly liked an Instagram post suggesting Adams would be traded, but surprisingly, the two haven’t spoken about it since.

Adams revealed in a recent interview that he hadn’t heard from Pierce since the incident and isn’t sure exactly what was happening. But no,w with the star receiver reportedly requesting a trade, his time in the silver and black may very well be coming to an end.
