Coming into this season, the Las Vegas Raiders organization hoped that this team could surprise many and make a run to the postseason. With Antonio Pierce officially being named head coach and Davante Adams and Maxx Crosby leading the way on both sides of the ball, there was some quiet optimism.
The Raiders are 2-2 after four weeks, so it has been far from an awful start to the season. However, there has been a lot of drama already, and Pierce seems to be in the middle of it all. First, the Raiders coach said players made ‘business decisions’ during the team’s Week 3 loss to the Carolina Panthers, something he would later apologize for. But now it also looks like Pierce liked a social media post suggesting the team could trade Adams.
It is still unsure whether that is the case or not, but in an appearance on the Up and Adams Show with Kay Adams, the Raiders star receiver revealed that he has yet to hear from Pierce regarding the issue:
3x All Pro WR Davante Adams addresses his HC Antonio Pierce liking a post suggesting Adams will be traded…
“I haven’t heard from him (Pierce)… I don’t really know exactly what that’s all about.”@heykayadams @tae15adams @Raiders pic.twitter.com/xMusj9nMFx

Adams has been mentioned in trade rumors for months now, so that is nothing new, but the receiver has maintained that he wants to stay with this franchise. Additionally, GM Tom Telesco has been adamant about having no plans to move him either, but perhaps things have changed.
Pierce’s failure to contact Adams, whether he meant to like the post or not, is a bit odd. That seems like something to be upfront about, and Pierce is nothing if not open and honest. And while Adams didn’t say he wanted to move on in this interview, he didn’t sound opposed to the idea either.
Now, once again, all eyes will be on the Raiders and whether they choose to move on from Adams, a move that would almost surely set the franchise back in the present.
Raiders’ Davante Adams Reacts to DeSean Jackson Comments
One of the times Davante Adams pushed back on the idea of not wanting to stay with the Raiders came during training camp as former NFL receiver Desean Jackson said that he felt Adams was unhappy in Vegas, something that didn’t sit well with Adams.
The receiver noted that he has only spoken to Jackson a handful of times in his life and certainly hasn’t spoken to him on this subject. He added that the only person he speaks to on this topic is his wife, and she wouldn’t leak anything to the media.
