The Oakland Raiders are on the mend this season after losing numerous veterans and some of team’s best players at key positions for various reasons.
One of the positions left with a considerable void for the Raiders was at linebacker after the team parted ways with troubled first-round draft pick Rolando McClain. With McClain moving on and ultimately retiring, the team had to look for another linebacker, but were unable to find a promising young prospect until now.
The Raiders’ front office acted fast once former All-American linebacker Chase Thomas hit the waiver wire recently. Thomas was released by the New Orleans Saints and Oakland didn’t hesitate to claim the former Stanford standout.
Former Stanford co-defensive coordinator/linebackers coach and Raiders defensive coordinator Jason Tarver has history with Thomas and was all for the team acquiring the undrafted rookie.
