Head coach Dennis Allen and the Oakland Raiders coaching staff are emphasizing tempo heading into Week 2’s showdown with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
With two costly delay of game penalties called on the Raiders last week against the Indianapolis Colts, Allen believes the tempo needs to ramp up in order to avoid the problem and catch the defense off guard in the meantime.
On Friday, Allen talked about the recent injuries the team has sustained and the need for increased tempo moving forward. Allen listed the players that won’t be able to go in Week 2 against the Jaguars, including Menelik Watson and David Ausberry, while also emphasizing the team’s desire to get things going for Terrelle Pryor much quicker than they did last week against the Colts.
Allen also talks about Darren McFadden’s contribution and the fact that he’s not concerned who’s running the football, but wants the team to develop a solid running game every single game moving forward.
