The Oakland Raiders announced On Tuesday that they have waived five players in running back James Butler, linebacker Cayson Collins, wide receiver Rashard Davis, offensive lineman Cameron Hunt and wide receiver De’Mornay Pierson-El.

Butler was signed by Raiders as an undrafted free agent in 2018 out of Iowa and spent training camp with the club joining the team’s practice squad for the majority of his rookie season.

Collins is also a player that spent most of the 2018 season on the Raiders practice squad after originally being signed as an undrafted free agent by the Miami Dolphins out of North Carolina.

The Raiders signed Davis to their practice squad ahead of Week 11 a season ago where he would remain for the rest of the season. The receiver was originally an undrafted free agent signee of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2017 out of James Madison.

Hunt actually spent time on the Raiders active roster in 2018 for the final three games of the season although he did not appear in any games. He has also spent time in the Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers organizations after going undrafted out of Oregon in 2017.

Oakland signed Pierson-El this offseason after a successful stint with the Salt Lake Stallions in the Alliance of American Football. He originally signed with the Washington Redskins in 2018 after going undrafted out of Nebraska.

With the Raiders adding eight players in the 2019 NFL Draft and a handful more through free agency afterward, there simply was not enough room on the roster for everybody.
