The Oakland Raiders made a series of roster moves on Wednesday, signing linebacker Will Compton, center Erik Magnuson and defensive tackle Terrell McClain while waiving linebacker Dakota Allen and releasing defensive end Kasim Edebali and defensive tackle Corey Liuget.
Compton has played seven NFL seasons after going undrafted out of Nebraska, so should provide a veteran presence to a Raiders linebacking corps that has been hampered by injuries this season.
In 69 career games with the Washington Redskins and Tennessee Titans, recording 286 total tackles including 16 in 12 games with the Titans last season.
Magnuson is being brought in for insurance purposes on the Raiders’ offensive line after Rodney Hudson went down with an ankle injury during last Sunday’s loss to the Houston Texans.
He spent the first half of the 2019 season on the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad, but Magnuson has appeared in eight career NFL games across two seasons with the San Francisco 49ers.
McClain is another veteran that has played with eight different teams in his nine NFL seasons. He has appeared in two games with the Kansas City Chiefs this season, recording just three total tackles. The 31-year-old has 129 total tackles, 7.5 sacks and 12 tackles for loss in 89 career games.
The Raiders signed Allen off of the Los Angeles Rams practice squad earlier in the season, but the rookie did not last long in Oakland’s organization as he appears to be headed elsewhere.
The same can be said for Edebali, who was just signed last week to take Gareon Conley’s roster spot after his trade to the Texans.
Perhaps the biggest surprise of this bunch was releasing Liuget, who the Raiders brought in from the Los Angeles Chargers before the season to bolster their pass rush. He has dealt with a few different injuries this season though and never saw the field for the Silver and Black.
