The Oakland Raiders announced that they have signed North Carolina State punter A.J. Cole and Nicholls State defensive lineman Ronald Ollie as undrafted free agents.

Cole played in 52 career games at NC State and finished ranked second in program history in punting yards (9,288) and third in punts (220).

The Raiders also released punter Drew Kaser to make room on the roster for Cole, so it looks like the competition for the team’s starting job will come down to Cole and Johnny Townsend.

Fans of the Netflix documentary series ‘Last Chance U’ may recognize Ollie’s name from his time on the show when he played at East Mississippi Community College.

He played two seasons at Nicholls State and totaled 74 tackles (38 solo), including 20 for loss, seven sacks, two passes defended and two fumble recoveries in 22 games.

In 12 games his senior season, Ollie had 33 tackles, 13.5 for loss, five sacks and two fumble recoveries.

The defensive line has been perhaps the Raiders’ biggest weakness the last few seasons, so Ollie could get a legitimate shot to make the roster if he impresses during offseason workouts, training camp and the preseason.
