The Las Vegas Raiders bolstered their secondary by adding four-time All-Pro veteran cornerback Marcus Peters on a one-year deal. He instantly becomes perhaps the team’s best corners and one of the best overall players on a defense that includes Chandler Jones and Maxx Crosby.

Crosby is the anchor of the Raiders defense and has been for several years now. He has become such a focal point in the Las Vegas defensive attack that he has become a selling point for other defensive players to want to come to the team. This includes Peters.

The newest Raiders corner revealed that he has been trying to play alongside Crosby for quite some time, even dating back to the start of his tenure in Baltimore.

“Man, when I kind of knew Baltimore was going to happen – me and Maxx [Crosby] have the same agents and stuff so you kind of get a feel of who you want to play with, and Maxx is one of them dudes that you want to play with,” Peters said. “He leaves it all on the field and it shows in his play, and shows in his effort, and it shows in his leadership. He comes to work every day ready to work, and that’s unique. There’s only a certain amount of people who got that.”

Peters, who is one of the best playmaking corners of the last decade, has some serious praise for the Raiders defensive star. And it’s no surprise, as fans of the Raiders have seen the impact Crosby can have both on the field in within the team’s culture.

Crosby and Peters can now team up together, finally, and be the anchors of each part of the Raider defensive plan. The hope is that they can improve on a defense that has struggled in its totality over the last few seasons.

Davante Adams reacts to Peters addition

Raiders star Davante Adams also had kind words for Peters and his addition to the Raider roster. He spoke about what he expects from the veteran given his history.

“Yeah, I mean, obviously you got to be a smart player to be able to be on defense and catch the ball as many times as he has in his career,” Adams said. “It doesn’t happen, which means it’s not just going to go out there and happen again just because he’s had it in the past. You got to still come in and do the right things. But I’ve known Marcus for a long time. We’re not family, but we’ve kind of got the same family. So, I’ve been a fan of his game for a while and being from the same area, I’m definitely rooting for him to have a great year.”
