The Oakland Raiders announced on Thursday afternoon that they have signed free agent cornerback D.J. Killings to a contract.

Killings originally signed with the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2017 out of the University of Central Florida. He then spent portions of the 2018 season on the practice squads of the Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Eagles and Indianapolis Colts.

He started offseason workouts this year with the Colts before being waived and signing with the Raiders. Killings has yet to appear in an NFL game in his career.

Killings is just the latest addition to a Raiders defense that should look a lot different in 2019 than a year ago. Some of their big free agent additions include safety Lamarcus Joyner, cornerback Nevin Lawson and linebackers Vontaze Burfict and Brandon Marshall.

They also went defense-heavy in the draft, selecting former Clemson defensive end Clelin Ferrell with the No. 24 overall pick, Mississippi State safety Jonathan Abram later in the first round and then Clemson cornerback Trayvon Mullen in the second round.

Killings will have an opportunity to impress the Raiders coaching staff and front office during offseason workouts. If he is able to do that then he will likely be around for training camp as well to battle for a spot on the roster.
