It sounds like quarterback Matthew Stafford’s time with the Los Angeles Rams is ending. A number of teams, including the Las Vegas Raiders, are reportedly interested in acquiring the veteran and Super Bowl champion.

The team’s need to find a quarterback is well known, and someone like Stafford would be a massive upgrade over their situation from a year ago. And it looks as if the Raiders are working to make that a reality.

According to Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review Journal, a potential Raiders acquisition of Stafford is picking up steam with many talking about it at the NFL Scouting Combine:

The Raiders are looking to compete immediately, and improving at quarterback is absolutely essential to making that happen. While Stafford isn’t the long-term answer as he is 37 years old and nearing the end of his career, he has proven that he still has plenty left in the tank, though dealing for him would also mean signing him to a new contract extension.

Stafford ranks in the top-10 in all-time passing yards and touchdowns for his career. Last season with the Rams, he threw for over 3,700 yards and 20 touchdowns despite injuries across the Rams’ offense, making things far more complex.

If Stafford were to join the Raiders, he would already have a top-tier talent to throw to in tight end Brock Bowers, who was a first-team All-Pro in his rookie season, not to mention a reliable wide receiver in Jakobi Meyers. And the team will surely look to add more weapons around him in free agency and the draft, should they make this deal happen.

Among all potential quarterback additions via free agency or trade, Stafford is clearly the most accomplished, and if the Raiders aren’t sold on the options at the top of the draft, this move would make a ton of sense.

Maxx Crosby “wouldn’t be mad” if Raiders added Aaron Rodgers

If the Raiders cannot figure out a deal for Matthew Stafford, there are other options as well, with one of the most notable being Aaron Rodgers. The Jets and Rodgers will be parting ways this offseason, and team leader Maxx Crosby isn’t opposed to bringing him in.

Crosby said he “wouldn’t be mad” if the Raiders added Rodgers in free agency when asked about the possibility on a recent podcast episode. Whether or not there is interest on either side is unclear, but it sounds like Crosby is on board regardless.
