The future of wide receiver Hunter Renfrow with the Las Vegas Raiders has been a question throughout this offseason. After signing a big contract extension last year, Renfrow struggled with injuries in 2022, playing in just 10 games and turning in his worst statistical season as a pro.

One of the Raiders’ big offseason signings was at the position in Jakobi Meyers, and the team also invested in a third-round pick at receiver, too leading many to wonder if Renfrow was on the trade block. Considering the team already dealt away tight end Darren Waller, moving on from Renfrow doesn’t seem too far-fetched.

But for the time being, that doesn’t seem to be in the plans. According to Tashan Reed of The Athletic, the Raiders have received no trade offers for Renfrow thus far, though things could change as training camp goes on:

Renfrow’s name has frequently been in trade rumors this offseason, and that intensified after the Raiders drafted receiver Tre Tucker in the third round in April. But the Raiders haven’t received any trade offers, according to a league source. That could obviously change between now and the trade deadline, but the sense is that nothing is imminent in terms of Renfrow being moved.

Even with the additions made at the position this offseason, there is still a role for Renfrow within this Raiders offense. He has shown himself to be one of the best slot receivers in the entire league when healthy, and with so many other options, it will be extremely difficult for the defense to focus on Renfrow. Additionally, new quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is more of a mid-range thrower which is where Renfrow thrives.

His contract is a big one, however, with him being owed $13.1 million this season and $13.7 million next year though that 2024 money is not guaranteed. While nothing is on the horizon as of now, things could change if the Raiders feel they have similar options at a cheaper price. Not to mention injuries occurring in training camp could always cause a change in the market.

This Raiders’ offense has the potential to be very explosive with Davante Adams and Meyers on the outside while Renfrow and rookie tight end Michael Mayer wreck havoc between the seams. Not to mention All-Pro running back Josh Jacobs dominating on the ground, assuming he eventually returns to the team. The front office will always be doing their due diligence on any potential moves, but Renfrow is a prime candidate to have a bounce-back season.
