After dealing with one of the scariest defensive fronts in Aaron Donald and the Los Angeles Rams, things do not get any easier for the Oakland Raiders offensive line in Week 2. This week, they have to deal with the Denver Broncos, led by six-time All-Pro and former Super Bowl MVP Von Miller.
Miller remains one of the premier edge rushers in the NFL, and he knows he has a big challenge in front of him with the Raiders offensive line. Kolton Miller and Donald Penn man the tackle positions and Miller is impressed with the Raiders rookie in particular.
Miller had high praise for the No. 15 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, believing the Raiders made an already great offensive line even better, according to Raiders:
“77 [Kolton Miller] is a beast,” said Miller Wednesday. “He was the best tackle in this year’s draft. I’ve always said the Raiders have the best offensive line in football. They made it a whole lot better with the Miller kid.”
Miller did not limit his praise to one Raiders rookie either, also singling out Arden Key who he sees big things for in the future:
“I knew Arden Key at LSU two or three years ago,” Miller said. “I honestly thought he was going to be a top-five pick. He’s a top-five talent. He’s a great talent. As he continues to develop, he’s developing into the pass rusher that the Raiders need him to be.”
Miller is not alone as many viewed Key as a top-five pick, but off-field issues caused his stock to drop and the Raiders selected him in the third round with the No. 87 pick.
Though Key did not record a sack in his first game, he did finish with three tackles and looks to be a major contributor for years to come. If anyone knows what it takes to thrive from the end position, it is Miller and he clearly sees something in Key.
