A couple of months ago, Tom Brady said that he was retired from the NFL ‘for good.’ Considering he has plans to work for FOX Sports as a broadcaster and is inching closer to becoming a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, it would seem that Brady has his eyes set on his post-playing career.

However, as is often the case with many athletes, it can be challenging to overcome the desire to step back on the field or court and suit up one more time. And now, Brady isn’t quite ready to completely rule out a possible comeback.

In a recent podcast appearance, Brady was asked about that possibility and said while he isn’t sure if it would be allowed if he is an owner of an NFL team, he isn’t opposed to the idea of a late-season comeback, via ESPN’s Mike Reiss:

“I’m not opposed to it,” Brady said. “I don’t know if they are going to let me if I become an owner of an NFL team. I’m always going to be in good shape. I’ll always be able to throw the ball. So, to come in for a little bit, like MJ [Michael Jordan] coming back, I don’t know if they would let me. But I wouldn’t be opposed to it.”

The host of the podcast, Vic Blends, mentioned a scenario in which the San Francisco 49ers may need a quarterback going into the playoffs. Brady would also bring up both the Raiders and the New England Patriots before giving his answer.

But later on in the same podcast, Brady would add that he still feels like he is done as a player:

“My career and all that, that’s a thing of the past in my mind. I was a gladiator out there, and now my time has moved on. Now it’s, ‘OK, how can I deliver for my next group of teammates?'”

In all likelihood, Brady has played his last snap as an NFL quarterback. He will be 47 years old when this season begins, and his focus, especially if his ownership bid is approved, will be on the Raiders and building this franchise.

Tom Brady’s ownership purchase of the Raiders ‘making progress’

Tom Brady becoming a minority owner of the Raiders has been in the works for over a year now, but it seems as if things are finally close to being done.

The overall deal was reworked after some owners expressed concern, and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell recently spoke about it. He said the league has been in touch and believes the deal is making progress.
