When the Las Vegas Raiders traded for Davante Adams the hope was that he would ultimately find himself amongst the likes of other franchise legend receivers such as Tim Brown, Fred Biletnikoff and Cliff Branch. Unfortunately, Adams’ time with the franchise didn’t last too long.
The Raiders have agreed to trade Adams to the New York Jets for a conditional third-round draft pick, bringing an end to the star receiver’s time with the franchise at under two seasons. It is unfortunate that Adams didn’t come close to accomplishing the goals he set out to with the Raiders, and it was one that Brown wasn’t happy with either.
The Raiders legend and Hall of Famer took to social media to voice his frustration, wishing Adams well with the Jets but saying that he saw this coming from the moment the franchise let quarterback Derek Carr go, and also taking a shot at former coach Josh McDaniels:
@Raiders Well, I can’t say I didn’t see this coming, even before 3 weeks ago. I believe this was in the making once Derrick was let go. THANKS JOSH!😖@tae15adams good luck to you young man! Talk @AaronRodgers12 into a few more years!

Brown is likely serving as the voice of many frustrated Raiders fans who saw the acquisition of Adams as a potential turning point for this franchise. One of the big reasons Adams wanted to come to the Raiders was to play with Carr, his college teammate and close friend, and the way the franchise handled the quarterback’s departure did not go over well.
In fairness to Adams, he said all of the right things and regularly reiterated his desire to remain with the Raiders, but the team’s inability to bring in a proper replacement for Carr didn’t make things any easier.
Brown loves this Raiders franchise and wants them to return to their place as a Super Bowl contender and premier NFL franchise. Unfortunately, the moves made over the last couple of years haven’t brought them any closer to that goal, and Brown isn’t happy about it.
Details of Raiders’ Trade of Davante Adams to the Jets
The Raiders officially agreed to trade Davante Adams to the Jets for a 2025 conditional third-round pick that could turn into a second-round pick if Adams is an All-Pro this season or he is on the active roster of the Jets in the AFC Championship Game or Super Bowl.
Additionally, the Jets agreed to take on the remainder of Adams’ contract in order to make this deal work.
