Marshawn Lynch will get to square off against his old team in the Seattle Seahawks in Week 6. It appears head coach Pete Carroll has already taken notice.
Several years have passed since Lynch retired from being Seattle’s longtime workhorse. However, according to Kyle Martin of the team’s official website, Carroll says the veteran is still as good as ever:
“I think he looks really, very much the same. I really like the way he is playing. I mean last year and this year. He looks in the same style, in the same mode, aggressive and explosive.”
There is certainly plenty of truth to Carroll’s praise. Lynch has been one of their best offensive players thus far in the 2018 NFL season. He even provided a vintage performance against the Cleveland Browns in Week 4 when he ran for 130 yards on 20 carries. Unfortunately, the Raiders’ struggles on offense last week forced them to go away from the run game.
However, they may rely heavily on Lynch this week against the Seahawks. Only three teams in the league are giving up more rushing yards per game than Seattle is right now (129.0). Pair that with Lynch’s desire to remind his old team of what they had and he could be poised for a huge day on the ground.
Unfortunately, things are much easier said than done for Oakland these days. The offense is coming off an abysmal 10-point performance against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 5. As a result, they have started to slowly fall out of the race for the AFC West Division. With the Denver Broncos taking on the Los Angeles Rams this week, there is a very good chance that the Raiders can creep back into third place in the division.
