Raiders News: Nevin Lawson & Trayvon Mullen Partner To Donate Meals To Coronavirus Response Teams

The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has been hard for everyone as every aspect of life has been altered seemingly throughout the entire world.

The ones most affected have of course been nurses, doctors and everyone staffed at major hospitals. The influx of coronavirus patients has just continued to climb while putting a strain on every employee.

At the same time, every sports league has been put on hold, giving professional athletes nothing but time on their hands.

With that time, Las Vegas Raiders cornerbacks Nevin Lawson and Trayvon Mullen have partnered with Chik-Fil-A to provide meals for four Florida hospitals, via BEST Football:

Lawson and Mullen are both products of the Broward County school system. Both players likely had already been home for the NFL offseason and have had to stay in Florida due to the coronavirus, giving them a chance to help out in the local community.

They are not the only Raiders who have given back during these trying times. Marcus Mariota recently contributed to the well being of his hometown in Hawaii. The new Raiders quarterback is helping to provide meals for school children during this time of crisis.

Additionally, owner Mark Davis donated $1 million to help out the local community in Las Vegas.

With the NFL still expected to start this August, the pair of Raiders cornerbacks will have their work cut out for them. The Raiders sought to improve on the position through free agency but were unable to sign their preferred target, Byron Jones. They then signed New Orleans Saints cornerback Eli Apple, but that deal ended up falling through.

With no new talent yet coming in at corner, Lawson and Mullen have the pressure on them to perform. Last year, Mullen joined the starting lineup as a rookie after the Raiders traded away Gareon Conley to the Houston Texans. He will likely maintain that spot and hopefully improve in his second season.

Lawson played off the bench and finished the season with 20 solo tackles and two tackles for loss. He will need to step up should the Raiders fail to sign or draft another starting-caliber cornerback. It is likely that the Raiders will add another corner, but depending on the caliber of talent, Lawson could see more playing time in 2020.
