Following the Las Vegas Raiders’ decision to shut down star defensive end Maxx Crosby due to injury, it was well publicized that he was not happy with the decision. Crosby prides himself on suiting up every week and the idea of being shut down as the Raiders spiraled down to the worst record in the NFL reportedly did not sit well with him.
This, of course, has led to more rumors about Crosby’s future with the franchise which has been in question for multiple years now. Crosby has been open about his desire to win at the highest level and be in the playoffs, specifically with the Raiders. But with each passing season, the Raiders have seemed to move further away from that goal.
But with his offseason in full swing, Crosby insists that he will not feed into the rumors, saying on the latest episode of the “Let’s Go” podcast that he is focused on getting healthy and being with his family:
“My focus has been on getting healthy because that’s all I can control right now. That’s all that matters to me is being with my daughters and being with my wife and taking care of myself. People are gonna have rumors. I just looked at my phone — I’ve been working all morning. Everyone’s hitting me up, ‘Did you say this?’ I can’t control that. You earn that as a player. If I wasn’t doing the right things and if I wasn’t the person and player I was, people wouldn’t be talking about all the nonsense. But that’s what comes with it. If you have drama, if you have a losing season, they just try to throw gasoline on the fire and make things a certain way.”
Crosby would go on to add that while he might have cared about what people think in the past, that is no longer the case:
“For me, I know what I’m about. I know what I represent. I really don’t care what everybody has to say. I used to a lot as a young guy. I really don’t give a damn. People can have their own opinions. I know what’s going on. I know my truth. And I don’t need to sit here and keep rehashing it to people that don’t know what’s going on. So, I don’t even waste time with it.”
These statements aren’t as adamant as some in prior years about wanting to remain with the Raiders for the rest of his career, so they likely won’t quiet the swirling rumors. But all those reports simply mean nothing to Crosby and the rest of the world will simply have to watch and see how everything ultimately turns out.
Klint Kubiak, Mark Davis want Maxx Crosby to remain with Raiders
Those in charge certainly seem to want Maxx Crosby to remain with this franchise as new head coach Klint Kubiak and owner Mark Davis both made it clear that they want the team captain to stay with the silver and black.
