The Las Vegas Raiders have begun making roster moves, and one of the first is to bring in an experienced cornerback to the team.

The Raiders announced that they have signed veteran corner Cre’von LeBlanc to the team, and he will be a part of their 90-man roster once the new league year begins next month.

LeBlanc was initially signed by the New England Patriots as an undrafted rookie in 2016 out of Florida Atlantic but would ultimately join the Chicago Bears, where he appeared in 28 games over two seasons. In Chicago, LeBlanc recorded 61 tackles and two interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown.

LeBlanc’s most recent on-field appearance came in 2020 as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles. In nine games, he recorded 22 tackles with a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. He made no appearances in 2021 but spent time on the practice squads of the Patriots, Miami Dolphins, and Houston Texans.

Defense was a bit of an issue for the Raiders last season as the team ranked 26th in the NFL in points allowed. While they were solid overall in yards given up, the Raiders had a serious issue in creating turnovers, ranking dead last in interceptions and 29th in takeaways overall.

Now under the direction of new defensive coordinator Patrick Graham, who came over from the New York Giants, the Raiders have the opportunity to begin turning things around on that side of the ball. Having veterans like LeBlanc around can help both on the field and in the locker room as the new regime under Josh McDaniels looks to build the culture.
