How the Las Vegas Raiders will address their quarterback position remains littered with possibilities, but for a long time now, the team has been linked to University of Colorado star Shedeur Sanders, son of NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, who is also his coach with the Buffaloes.

Sanders, along with University of Miami quarterback Cam Ward, are the two highest-rated quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft, though it is unclear whether either will be available when the Raiders are on the clock with the sixth overall pick. But with the NFL Scouting Combine in full swing, the Raiders are, of course, doing their due diligence.

According to Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review Journal, the Raiders met with Sanders at the combine, with the quarterback adding that he will gladly go to Las Vegas for a visit with the team if they ask:

Sanders and the Raiders have long seemed like a match destined to come true. Sanders’ talent is undeniable. Last season, he completed 74% of his passes, throwing for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns. He was named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award as the best senior quarterback.

The quarterback also has a relationship with Raiders minority owner Tom Brady, making this match seem even more inevitable. But many factors will still determine whether Sanders winds up in silver and black.

The Raiders could still address the position in free agency or via trade, though arguably, the best trade target is now off the board. And if the franchise is ultimately set on Sanders, they may have to trade up to get him, as there is no guarantee he falls to the Raiders. It certainly sounds as if Sanders himself is open to the idea, but there are no guarantees at this moment.

Maxx Crosby wouldn’t be mad at Raiders adding Aaron Rodgers

The Raiders reportedly had an interest in trading for Matthew Stafford, but he has agreed to a restructured deal to remain with the Los Angeles Rams. If the team wants to add a quarterback via free agency, one of the top names available is Aaron Rodgers.

And if the team were to go down that road, Raiders captain Maxx Crosby would be just fine with it, as he revealed on a recent episode of his podcast. The most important thing for Crosby going forward is team success, and any move that gets the Raiders closer to playoff contention is something the star defensive end will be on board for.
