As mandatory minicamps begin around the NFL, Las Vegas Raiders star running back Josh Jacobs has not yet joined the team as disputes remain over the status of his contract. The Raiders placed the $10.1 million franchise tag on Jacobs this offseason.

Jacobs was hoping to get a long-term extension done with Las Vegas after his fourth NFL season saw him post career highs and NFL bests among running backs across the board. He led the NFL with 1,653 rushing yards, nearly 500 better than his previous career high.

He also had 12 rushing touchdowns and 400 receiving yards, putting him at 2,053 all-purpose yards during the 2022 NFL season. Now, he sits without a long-term deal and on a franchise tag placed on him by the Raiders.

With this ongoing dispute, it should come as no surprise that Jacobs may feel disrespected. He posted a cryptic tweet seemingly commenting on the entire situation.

This is not the first time that he’s made a comment of this nature over Twitter. In fact, he’s tweeted or retweeted several things relating to the subject over the recent weeks and months.

He is undoubtedly upset with how negotiations have gone with the Raiders, and rightfully so after the best season of his NFL career. He was not only his best self, but he was arguably the best running back in football in 2022.

The franchise tag only serves to help the Raiders and would likely harm Jacobs’ long-term value. At this point, it’s unclear if Jacobs would sit out for the 2023 season, but it can’t be ruled out, given the type of comments he’s making about the situation online.

Maxx Crosby calls Jacobs best RB on the planet

Raiders teammates are also coming to the defense of their star running back. Defensive star Maxx Crosby took to Twitter as well to leave a quote tweet on a video of a Jacobs highlight, calling him the best running back on the planet.

This was done amid the contract situation surrounding Jacobs as a direct comment as well. It certainly seems everyone on the Raiders roster is in favor of Jacobs getting the money he earned with his performance last season.
