Oakland Raiders running back Josh Jacobs was once again named the AFC Offensive Rookie of the Month for his stellar performance in November.

Jacobs is certainly no stranger to earning this honor after winning it for October as well despite playing in only three games. He had no problems keeping his momentum going from Week 9 to Week 12 to potentially solidify his case for Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Jacobs kicked things off with one of his best games of the 2019 NFL season with 120 yards and two touchdowns on a season-high 28 carries in the clutch win over the Detroit Lions. He then followed it up by flashing his skill set as a pass-catcher with over 100 yards from scrimmage thanks to three catches for a season-high 30 yards to beat the Los Angeles Chargers.

The rookie found a way to kick things up a notch by essentially putting it all together versus the Cincinnati Bengals eith 112 yards on 23 carries and another three catches out of the backfield. Although he was not able to end the month on a high note after rushing for a season-low 34 yards against the New York Jets, he clearly had already done more than enough to secure the award.

Unfortunately, the rest of the Raiders’ offense has largely struggled to get anything going outside of the run game. This was extremely evident during their embarrassing loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 13 that saw Jacobs enjoy another strong outing with 104 yards on 17 carries.

Their struggles have largely been the reason behind Oakland’s two-game skid that has essentially taken them out of the playoff race entering the final stretch of the season. Even if they somehow managed to win out, there is still no guarantee that they will be taking part in the postseason.

Regardless, they can still take solace in the fact that Jacobs has fit the billing of a workhorse back after being taken with the 24th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. It is safe to assume that the Raiders will do what they can to help him put the finishing touches on a ROY bid, however, they may want to exercise some caution after revealing that Jacobs has been dealing with some shoulder pain as of late after carrying the offense all season.
