The Las Vegas Raiders got back in the win column with a 38-20 blowout victory over the Houston Texans, led by another strong performance from Josh Jacobs.

The 24-year-old rushed for 143 yards on 20 carries and scored three touchdowns. He also caught three passes for 12 more yards through the air.

With the effort, Jacobs became just the third player in Raiders history to accumulate 150 scrimmage yards and score a touchdown in three straight games, joining Marcus Allen (four straight in 1985) and Clem Daniels (three straight in 1966).

Allen fittingly was at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday and witnessed Jacobs adding his name to the record book in person. Jacobs, who has a great relationship with Allen, was pleased to see his mentor after the game, per ESPN’s Paul Gutierrez:

“I mean, it’s been huge to see him, especially him being who he is,” Jacobs said of Allen, MVP of the Raiders’ Super Bowl XVIII win and a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

“And being a great running back in this game, to be able to take the time and, you know, mentor me and talk to me about things that he’s seeing and things like that, I don’t really take that for granted,” said Jacobs. “So, it’s been huge. To be able to have him here and be happy for me to beat his record is definitely huge for me.”

Jacobs broke additional team records against the Texans as he also became just the third Raiders player with multiple games of three rushing touchdowns, joining Allen (five) and Pete Banaszak (two).

Jacobs, who is in a contract year, has rushed for 633 yards on 111 carries with six touchdowns through six games this season. The Pro Bowl running back has also caught 20 passes for 141 yards.

Jacobs attributed his success to multiple conversations he had with Allen earlier in the year. The advice seems to have paid off, as Jacobs is on track to post career bests in virtually every category.
