Raiders News: Henry Ruggs III Punctured Thigh While Helping Friend Move But Believed To Be OK

The Las Vegas Raiders’ roster underwent a bit of an overhaul this offseason with a number of talented, young players joining the organization through free agency and the draft.

Perhaps the most exciting of them all is wide receiver Henry Ruggs III, who the Raiders drafted 10th overall out of Alabama.

It’s no secret that Derek Carr could use more weapons to throw to after having a revolving door at the wide receiver position in 2019, and Ruggs should be able to come in and be a much-needed vertical threat for the Raiders’ offense as one of the fastest players in the league.

While Ruggs is getting ready for the 2020 season, it appears he recently had a bit of an injury scare. 247 Sports is reporting that Ruggs punctured his thigh while recently helping a friend move, via JPS Football:

While the injury could have been very serious and potentially career-altering, Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal is reporting that he is OK:

While the Raiders confirmed the injury, they did not comment on the severity, although if it was something serious they likely would have gotten out in front of it.

Ruggs’ father, Henry Ruggs Jr. confirmed the injury to Wesley Sinor of Alabama.com and that he is doing OK:

“He was trying to move a trailer or something — move furniture or something — and the trailer just kind of pinned him against a car or a wall or something,” Henry Ruggs Jr. said. “He’s pretty much OK, I’m about to go out there and see him in a little bit. It was just like a little open wound on his leg, a little incision. Like something had stuck him right there on his thigh a little bit.”

Ruggs hasn’t been able to get the injury checked out yet due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic though:

“With this COVID-19 stuff still going on, they wouldn’t let anybody in,” Ruggs Jr. said. “He’s just having to walk on crutches. Not putting as much pressure on it.”

Ruggs is the future of the Raiders organization at the wide receiver position, so hopefully he can remain healthy the rest of the offseason and be able to start his career in Week 1 when Las Vegas travels to take on the Carolina Panthers.
