There are very few franchises associated with a slogan the way the Las Vegas Raiders are known for ‘Just Win Baby’ as coined by the late, great, legendary Raiders owner Al Davis in 1984. The phrase has since become synonymous with the franchise and its fans around the world.
Whether the team was in Los Angeles, Oakland, or now Las Vegas, that phrase has been a motto for the Raiders, as in the end, nothing else matters but getting the win. But with the move to Las Vegas, known across the country as ‘Sin City,’ the opportunity for some new branding is there, and the Raiders franchise is jumping on it.
According to ESPN’s Darren Rovell, the Raiders have filed a trademark for the slogan ‘Win City’ which will be used as a slogan for the team going forward:
The Las Vegas Raiders have filed a trademark for “WIN CITY.” The filing claims that WIN CITY will be used as a slogan for the team.
The Raiders are 3-7.

The combination of the Raiders being known for ‘Just Win Baby’ and Las Vegas as ‘Sin City’ makes this slogan an obvious one. In fact, it’s kind of surprising that it took this long for this to come to fruition, as the branding and merchandise will surely fly off the shelves.
The ‘Just Win Baby’ slogan actually came about following the Raiders’ win over Washington in Super Bowl XVIII. There was some tension between Davis and then-NFL Commissioner Pete Rozelle stemming from the Raiders’ lawsuit with the NFL regarding their move to Los Angeles. Davis reportedly felt slighted by Rozelle after the Commissioner praised Washington after the Super Bowl rather than the Raiders, who dominated to win the game by 29 points.
That led to Davis saying those words that have since become a rallying call for the Raiders franchise, and even though their record this season hasn’t been what many had hoped for, the franchise has another perfect slogan to be linked to for years to come.
