Much of the news surrounding Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr since the season ended has been about where his next destination will be as his time with the Raiders seems all but done. But apparently, on his way out the door, Carr has one last accomplishment to add to his name.

The Raiders and the NFL announced on Tuesday that Carr has been named to the 2023 Pro Bowl Games, via Raiders News Wire’s own Ryan Ward:

Carr was one of three quarterbacks to be named to the Pro Bowl Games on Tuesday due to injuries to the original selections as well as the alternates. Carr, along with Trevor Lawrence of the Jacksonville Jaguars and, the biggest shock, Tyler Huntley of the Baltimore Ravens, who threw just two touchdowns and three interceptions this season. The trio will now represent the AFC in the 2023 Pro Bowl Games.

The original three quarterbacks selected for the AFC were Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs, Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals, and Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills. The alternates were Tua Tagovailoa of the Miami Dolphins, Justin Herbert of the Los Angeles Chargers, and Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens.

Mahomes is ineligible due to being in the Super Bowl while Allen is dealing with an elbow injury. All three alternates are also out due to injury with Tagovailoa still in concussion protocol, Herbert having a shoulder issue, and Jackson of course, still dealing with a knee injury.

Carr is officially replacing Burrow on the Pro Bowl roster after finishing the season with 3,522 yards and 24 touchdowns to 14 interceptions in 15 games with the Raiders this season. The franchise chose to sit Carr down for the final two games of the season, namely in order to prevent an injury to Carr which would have initiated a clause in his contract, guaranteeing the rest of his money.

Carr joked on social media about the selection, posting on Twitter that the invitation must have gotten lost in the mail. It also helps that the 2023 Pro Bowl Games are taking place in Las Vegas at Allegiant Stadium. For the first time, the game itself has been replaced by a weeklong series of skill competitions, culminating in a flag football game that will take place on Sunday.
