While the Las Vegas Raiders have yet to make any monumental moves, the NFL offseason is in full swing and changes should be coming in the next few months.
Outside of the Raiders organization, some teams like the Los Angeles Rams have already been pretty busy. The Rams have multiple new coaches on board, including a new defensive coordinator, and also have had to say goodbye to some of their key players. One such player was veteran safety Eric Weddle, who had only joined the team last year.
Weddle announced his retirement last week via Twitter and was met with admiration and respect from his peers. One of those players was Raiders quarterback Derek Carr, who playfully tweeted that he was happy to see him go:

Weddle took on the Raiders 20 times over the course of his career, many times as a member of the division-rival San Diego (now Los Angeles) Chargers. He faced Carr a total of six times, gaining the upper hand with four victories.
Despite his team’s success against the Raiders, Weddle was never able to record an interception on Carr. He did have a couple of passes deflections but Carr mostly proved tough against a worthy opponent.
In his career, Weddle finished with 29 interceptions, four of which were returned for touchdowns, 98 pass deflections, eight forced fumbles, 903 solo tackles, and 9.5 sacks. While the game itself is losing one of the great safeties in modern history, certainly Raiders fans echo Carr’s sentiment and are happy to see him go.
