There is no doubt that one of the selling points for Davante Adams in being traded to the Las Vegas Raiders was reuniting with his college teammate, quarterback Derek Carr. The two are close friends and have an excellent relationship that spans many years.

But with the Raiders obviously looking to move away from Carr and find a new quarterback for the team moving forward, questions obviously arose about whether Adams would want to stay in silver and black without his friend. And Adams recently made his desires clear.

“Yeah, absolutely,” Adams said when asked whether he wants to be a member of the Raiders next year. “I mean like I said, I wouldn’t have been here or ended up here originally probably if Derek [Carr] wasn’t here, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that I won’t be here in the event that he’s not here.”

“That’s my boy, obviously I got his back through anything,” Adams continued. “I think I’ve made that more than clear at this point, and I support him, I support everything that he has moving forward as well. But my dream was to play for this team before he was a Raider obviously, and at this point I want to obviously try to make this thing work and continue on doing what I’m doing here and myself get better and obviously see the team grow and get better as well.”

Adams has openly voiced his support for Carr, but this decision is obviously something that is beyond his control. But Adams is from the Bay Area and grew up a Raiders fan, so as he said, his dream of playing in Silver and Black stretches well before he ever developed his relationship with Carr.

The question now is who will be the team’s quarterback next season. There have already been rumors about the likes of Tom Brady and Jimmy Garoppolo being options, with both being very familiar with Raiders coach Josh McDaniels and his system. Aaron Rodgers has also been mentioned as a possibility, and the team will have a top-10 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and could look to move up to take one of the prospects available as well.

One thing that is certain is that Davante Adams gives any quarterback a reason to strongly consider joining the Raiders. Adams is enjoying another Pro Bowl season in which he has totaled 95 receptions for 1,443 yards and a league-leading 14 receiving touchdowns.
