Raiders Injury News: Rodney Hudson Inactive Against Lions, Andre James To Start At Center

The Oakland Raiders announced their inactives for Week 9’s matchup with the Detroit Lions, and among them is center Rodney Hudson, who will miss the game with an ankle injury.

Hudson was carted off the field last Sunday during the team’s loss against the Houston Texans. After not practicing earlier this week, it seemed that Hudson’s 84 game streak of starting would finally end and that is now the case.

Head coach Jon Gruden had tested the idea of possibly starting left guard Richie Incognito at center, but backup Andre James will actually be able to play despite being listed as questionable with an ankle injury of his own, so he will get the start in Hudson’s place.

Considering Hudson has started 84 games in a row and has been Derek Carr‘s only starting center for the last five seasons, his presence will be greatly missed against an underrated Lions team. James played well replacing Hudson last week though, so the hope is that he will be able to continue that.

The Raiders have rarely had all starters on the offensive line play together this season due to suspensions and injuries, but Carr still has been well protected and Josh Jacobs has flourished in the run-game all year.

The Lions defense is amongst the bottom third of the league in nearly every category so that should continue this week. They have only recorded 13 sacks, the same amount as the Raiders, leaving both teams tied for 25th-fewest.

In addition to Hudson, the Raiders’ other inactive players this week are Keelan Doss, Dwayne Harris, DeShone Kizer, Brandon Marshall, Josh Mauro and Brandon Parker.
