Terrelle Pryor’s performance in the Raiders opening game against the Indianapolis Colts put the world on notice. Pryor also made a mark in the fantasy world as he posted nearly 22 points in standard Yahoo! Fantasy leagues.
Heading into a Week 2 showdown with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Pryor could be in line for another huge game as the Jags are the only team ranked lower than the Raiders on ESPN’s power rankings and are considered by many to be the worst team in the NFL.
ESPN’s Matthew Berry is one person who loves Pryor’s fantasy potential this week:
I had Terrelle Pryor in this section last week and was highest on him in our ranks as well, so you know I’m back for more. It won’t be pretty, but the fantasy value is legit. He’s started two games in the NFL and has 22 and 19 points to show for his efforts. The Jags have faced the zone read on only three plays since the start of 2012, tied for second-fewest in the league. They’re also not very good. Expect Pryor to run his way to fantasy usefulness.
Berry is spot on in his projections here. While the Jaguar defense only gave up 292 yards last week to the Kansas City Chiefs, they produced no takeaways and their offense is abysmal meaning the Raiders should have plenty of time with the ball.
Pryor’s rapid improvement is making him a sleeper in fantasy leagues and a great stash for keeper leagues. Despite a less than stellar offensive line that has been decimated due to injuries, Pryor is striving. Look for that to continue this week.
