Although the Oakland Raiders announced the signing of wide receiver Jalin Marshall only earlier in the week, his tenure with the team didn’t last long as they now have announced that he has been waived.

Marshall spent last season playing for the Orlando Apollos in the Alliance of American Football (AAF). He was among the players from the now-disbanded league that was able to get an opportunity to play in the NFL after showcasing their talent.

Marshall had taken part in the team’s rookie minicamp that they held recently and the Raiders subsequently rewarded him with a spot on the 90-man roster. It was safe to assume that Oakland was intrigued by his skill set and initially wanted to give him an opportunity to make his bones in the NFL but it seems he has already worn out his welcome in Oakland.

His most productive year in the NFL came in 2016 when he hauled in 14 receptions for 162 yards and two touchdowns with the New York Jets. He also served as their primary return man on special teams after tallying 18 punt returns for 100 yards and 13 kickoff returns for 324 yards.

Although the 23-year-old has not played in the NFL since then, it is clear that he is not looking to hang up his cleats any time soon as long as he is healthy.

The former Ohio State product is just one of many unestablished free agents hoping for an opportunity to continue living out their childhood dream.
