NFL Rumors: Antonio Brown Filing Grievance Against Raiders To Recoup Lost Earnings
Terrence Lee-USA TODAY Sports

For the Oakland Raiders, Antonio Brown is like that annoying pest that just won’t go away. The star wide receiver was traded to the Raiders this past offseason after forcing his way out of the Pittsburgh Steelers organization, although he never played a single game for the Silver and Black.

Brown caused nothing but drama in his short time with the Raiders, whether it be because of frostbite in his feet, the NFL not allowing him to wear his preferred helmet or a scuffle with general manager Mike Mayock, it became clear that Brown had no intention of ever playing for the Raiders.

Oakland wound up releasing Brown just before Week 1, allowing them to save the $30 million in guaranteed money that they would have owed him if he suited up for the Raiders.

He then went on to sign with the New England Patriots, although he was only in that organization for around two weeks due to more drama in the form of a sexual assault lawsuit.

Now a free agent, Brown has said that he has no plans of playing in the NFL again do to the way owners have treated him and cost him guaranteed money.

It appears Brown is still trying to collect that money as Jeremy Fowler of ESPN is reporting that he filed a grievance against the Raiders to get his $30 million:

Wide receiver Antonio Brown is working on a potential grievance to recoup lost earnings from the Oakland Raiders, according to a source.

Brown lost out on $30 million in guaranteed money when the Raiders cut him Sept. 7, and the NFLPA is examining various scenarios to try to return money to the player.

Among items under consideration, according to the source: three fines levied by the team, his unpaid Week 1 salary, his base salaries of $14.625 million and $14.5 million for 2019 and 2020, and a $1 million signing bonus as part of his three-year, $54-million deal signed in March.

Considering Brown forced his way out of Oakland and posted a video celebrating his release, saying he is ‘free,’ it is hard to see him winning this grievance.

Brown is still being investigated by the league for his sexual assault incident, so until that gets resolved, he won’t be playing in the NFL or collecting any more from any of the organizations that employed him.
