The Oakland Raiders have spent much of the early goings of the offseason adding pieces to the puzzle on both sides of the ball. Much of that effort has come in the way of bringing proven talent aboard to help the team bounce back from a disappointing 2017 NFL season.

One of the areas that the Raiders have zoned in on adding a stronger veteran presence has been in the secondary at the cornerback position. According to Eddie Borsilli of Sirius XM NFL Radio, there could be a scenario where Oakland pursues Adam Jones:

Jones had been limited to just nine games last season where he notched an interception, four passes defended, and 23 total tackles. He was let go by the Cincinnati Bengals after they decided to decline the 2018 option on his deal that has put him on the open market prior to the start of free agency.

In the time since then, he has yet to receive any significant interest from around the league in his services for next season. Following a rough start to his NFL career due to his struggles off the field, he has appeared to get things back on track a bit with the Bengals after spending the last eight seasons with the team where he became one of the cornerpieces of the secondary.

Although Jones is returning from an injury, he could step in to provide some much-needed depth for the Raiders revamped group of cornerbacks as a proven player in the bunch. Oakland has brought a mixture of young and proven talent at the position in order help that area of the team become a strong point next season.

With there still being a lack of interest in Jones’ services from around the league, it may fall on the Raiders to determine if he is worth taking a flyer on at this point of his career.
