The Las Vegas Raiders have a number of offensive weapons at the skill positions, but arguably their promising position may be at tight end. Last year’s second-round pick Michael Mayer showed serious flashes down the stretch of last season and the team added dynamic rookie Brock Bowers with their first-round pick in 2024 forming one of the most promising tight end duos in the NFL.
Add in superstar Davante Adams and the always reliable Jakobi Meyers at the receiver position as well as the emerging Zamir White and consistent Alexander Mattison in the backfield, and whoever wins the quarterback competition between Aidan O’Connell and Gardner Minshew will have a multitude of weapons at their disposal.
Things are already beginning to fall into place at Raiders OTAs, so much so that Mayer believes this offense will be one of the best in the league in 2024, via Carter Landis of Sports Illustrated:
“I think our offense is going to be very prolific this year, I really do,” Mayer said. “Getsy’s done a really good job. The offense that we’ve installed so far, there’s a little bit more we need to do when camp comes around, but we’ve installed a ton of the offense, looks really good. It looks like a lot of fun, too.”
There is undoubtedly a lot to like about the pieces on this Raiders offense, and it sounds as if new offensive coordinator Luke Getsy is getting everyone on the same page and excited about what’s to come. Simply put, if things go as planned, it will be extremely difficult to shut the Raiders down.
Of course, the quarterback is extremely important, and the team will have to get a good performance from under center as that would sink everything. The Raiders also made some offensive line additions through both the draft and free agency that will hopefully fortify them upfront.
The arrow for this team seems to be pointing up, and Mayer sees what this offense can become. Now it will be up to the Raiders to keep this momentum going once they line up on the field against real opposition.
Maxx Crosby wants to be with Raiders ‘for life’
The defense, of course, is led by All-Pro defensive end Maxx Crosby, and the team captain is completely on board with where the franchise is headed and is looking forward to experiencing the ultimate success.
Crosby recently made it clear that he wants to be a Raider ‘for life’ while adding that remaining with one franchise is a goal of his and he plans on bringing a Super Bowl title to Las Vegas.
