New Las Vegas Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak has a big task in front of him in trying to lead this franchise back to its previous glory amongst the NFL’s elite teams. The Raiders have struggled recently with just one winning season in the last nine years and no coach having lasted two full seasons since 2020.
This is Kubiak’s first head coaching job and at just 39 years old he certainly has plenty of potential. But Kubiak also understands that he is not guaranteed anything and feels he has to earn the right to coach the Raiders every season as if he fails to deliver results on the field he won’t last, via Levi Edwards of Raiders.com:
“In this league, if you don’t take care of business, then you get chewed up and spit out real quick,” he added. “And every one of us up here has been through that. So, I’m going to have to earn the right to coach this whole season, to coach the next season. I have got to show Mr. Davis that our program is about the right things and that we’re developing these players. So, I don’t take for granted how long I’m going to be here. I know that I have to earn it every day.”
It is also worth noting that a number of Raiders legends were in attendance during Kubiak’s introductory press conference, including Charles Woodson, Howie Long, Marcus Allen and Jim Plunkett. But Kubiak was not phased by them being there and embraced the pressure that comes with being a member of this franchise:
“It’s not daunting at all. It’s a blessing,” Klint Kubiak said without hesitation. “That’s what you want to be. That’s what I want our players to want to achieve. I want them to see these guys, be surrounded by these guys, because that’s what their goals should be, win Super Bowls. The MVPs and Hall of Fame, that takes care of itself when the team wins. So, that’s what we’re going to be about, winning.”
Kubiak has the right mindset and is saying all the right things as he begins his journey with the Raiders. The franchise hopes they have found their guy to lead them back to greatness and he will do everything he can to ensure that happens.
Raiders begin building coaching staff around Klint Kubiak
Klint Kubiak is already building his coaching staff as well as the Raiders have named Andrew Janocko as the new offensive coordinator, Rob Leonard as defensive coordinator, Joe DeCamillis as special teams coordinator and Mike McCoy as the assistant head coach.
