It has been a long work in progress for the Oakland Raiders to relocate to Las Vegas. Although the team will remain in Oakland for a few more years, owner Mark Davis rejoiced with the city of Las Vegas after his team was approved of the move. The magnitude of the move sent shockwaves throughout the NFL, especially fans and players. One outspoken player and fan who has been engulfed with mixed emotions has been quarterback Derek Carr.

Carr’s roots to not only the Raiders goes deeper than just having been drafted 36th overall by the team back at the 2014 NFL Draft. Having been born in Bakersfield, California and attending Fresno State University, the Raiders have always been close to him. Now, Carr continues to express his undying love for the franchise.

Following the relocation announcement, Carr posted the following message to fans on Twitter:

Carr has not been alone in the emotional mix-up the move has created. Head coach Jack Del Rio also reflected similar sentiments. Whether in Oakland or in Vegas, Del Rio emphasized that the goals and the mission of the team remain the same.

The Raiders are the only NFL team to share a stadium with a baseball team. After years of trying to work out a new stadium deal with the city of Oakland, no progress was made which led to this eventual move. Now, the Raiders will call Las Vegas home as early as the 2019 NFL season.
