Raiders News: Derek Carr, T.J. Carrie Discuss How They Spent Their Bye Week

The Oakland Raiders had a pleasant week off in Week 10, as after a Week 9 victory over the Denver Broncos they headed into their bye with a 7-2 record and in sole possession of first place in the AFC West.

The Raiders were victims of bad luck this past Sunday though, despite not playing a game, as both of their division rivals the Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs won close games.

The Chiefs scored 20 unanswered points and won on a last second field goal to beat the Carolina Panthers 20-17 and pull into a first place tie with the Raiders.

The Broncos pulled within 0.5 games of the division lead, as they blocked a potential game winning extra point by New Orleans Saints kicker Wil Lutz and returned it all the way to the end zone for two points, giving the Broncos a 25-23 victory.

Raiders quarterback Derek Carr couldn’t have been too happy seeing that, as he said he would be watching all the games on his day off Sunday, via Eddie Paskal of Raiders.com:

“I love it,” Carr said. “I’m a huge fan. I’ll definitely have my ‘RedZone’ on. I’ll be watching all the games and all those things. Yeah, man, I can definitely watch just because I’m just such a huge fan of the game, and I always will be.”

Raiders cornerback T.J. Carrie enjoyed his bye week though, as it is a time to get away from the game:

“The biggest thing I think for the bye week is try to get away and get your mind away, so that when you come back you’re totally zoned in and focused, and you’re refreshed for the next part of the season,” cornerback TJ Carrie explained.

Now that Week 10 has come to a close, the Raiders are traveling to Mexico City as they will play the Houston Texans this coming Monday night in the NFL’s first every regular season game in Mexico City.
