The Las Vegas Raiders have made the hiring of Luke Getsy as offensive coordinator official. Getsy spent the last two seasons with the Chicago Bears but the two sides parted ways this offseason. Now, with the Raiders, Getsy will have the opportunity to build a top offense with a top weapon already in hand in wide receiver Davante Adams.

Adams has continued to shine since joining the Raiders but has also expressed some frustration with how he was utilized under Josh McDaniels. At a time when the offense was struggling, Adams felt he could be getting more targets to help jump-start things, and perhaps that will be the case under Getsy.

Adams was certainly keeping an eye on who the Raiders would hire as offensive coordinator, and he is happy with the decision as Getsy is someone he is familiar with. Adams recently spoke on this, telling ESPN’s Paul Gutierrez that he is ‘really excited’ about Getsy joining the staff:

Adams has proven that he is still one of the true elite wide receivers in the NFL and should be treated as such. Whoever was hired needed to be someone who clicks with the best weapon on the team and Getsy fits the bill.

The Raiders have the talent to be one of the best offenses in the league, with Adams leading the way along with Jakobi Meyers, promising tight end Michael Mayer, and, hopefully, running back Josh Jacobs, who is a free agent this offseason.

Getsy is being tasked with getting the most out of this talent, and Adams certainly feels he is capable. It will be up to Getsy to prove the Raiders made the right decision in handing him the reins of the offense.

Should Raiders trade up to draft a quarterback

Of course, if the Raiders offense is going to shine under Getsy, the team must get the right player under center. There are a number of options available in the 2024 NFL Draft. But the Raiders are currently sitting with the 11th pick, well beyond the range of the top quarterback prospects.

But ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky believes the team should swing a deal to move up. The former NFL quarterback recently spoke on this, believing that the Raiders are good enough elsewhere to make a real run, but only if they get the right guy under center.

USC’s Caleb Williams, North Carolina’s Drake Maye and LSU’s Jayden Daniels are expected to be the first three picks in the draft and it would cost the Raiders a lot to move that far up. But the return may be worth it.
