The Oakland Raiders certainly understood that they have the pillars in place when it comes to forming a franchise that can excel for years. General manager Reggie McKenzie has done a phenomenal job in acquiring contributing players, while head coach Jack Del Rio has helped create chemistry.

Their 12-4 record this past season not only was their first winning seasons since 2002, but was also the beginning of their return to greatness. The entire roster, including Derek Carr and Khalil Mack, have invested in Del Rio and his enthusiasm and professionalism each and every day.

Although the Raiders have continuing internal drama regarding their situation with Las Vegas and Oakland, the players and staff on the field have brought it each and every day.

This outlook has truly resided with the players, as the front office is fully invested in the job Del Rio has done. In fact, the organization decided to reward Del Rio for the job he has done with an extension, via Jimmy Durkin of the Bay Area News Group:

The four-year deal came in peculiar fashion, as the organization got creative with their press release. Although the fans aren’t happy with the relocation situation and how Mark Davis has left them in the dark, they can certainly agree that Del Rio deserves a longer future with this franchise.

Del Rio is 19-13 in his two seasons with the Raiders, upon getting strong consideration for the NFL coach of the year award. He led the Raiders to their first playoff appearance since 2002, as the Raiders have once again become a respected franchise in the NFL.
